With the rapid development of China’s aquaculture industry, the treatment and utilization of chicken manure has increasingly attracted widespread attention. Chicken manure has rich nutritional value and wide application prospects. However, improper handling of chicken manure will not only pollute the environment, but also may bring a series of problems. In this paper, we will discuss the treatment of chicken manure and its resource reuse, in order to provide reference for the majority of farmers and related practitioners.

1、Chicken manure fertilizer

Chicken manure from chicken farms can be fermented into fertilizer. There are generally two options for fermenting chicken manure into fertilizer. The first is the traditional compost. The second is to choose large fermentation tanks and other products for fermentation.

Traditional composting: Compost fermentation method is a common method of chicken manure treatment. Chicken manure is mixed and piled up with crop straws and leaves, and appropriate amounts of fermentation fungus are added for aerobic fermentation. During the fermentation process, the organic materials in chicken manure gradually decompose and generate high temperatures, thus killing pathogenic microorganisms and parasites. The fermented chicken manure can be used as a high-quality organic fertilizer for soil improvement and crop yield. This method not only reduces the foul odour of chicken manure, but also effectively kills pathogenic microorganisms and parasites. Fermented chicken manure organic fertilizer can be used to plant crops and flowers to improve soil fertility.

Fermentation tank fermentation: Fermentation tank is usually used in large-scale farms, take the main fermentation tank enterprise-Bolong as an example. The main business of Bolong is high temperature aerobic fermenter, which adopts the principle of aerobic microbial aerobic fermentation to make the microorganisms use the organic matter, residual protein in the manure and carcasses of livestock and poultry.

This equipment adopts aerobic microbial fermentation principle to make microorganisms use the organic matter and residual protein in livestock and poultry manure and carcasses to multiply rapidly under a certain temperature, humidity and sufficient oxygen, so as to achieve harmless treatment of livestock and poultry wastes. As long as the moisture of organic waste is below 70%, no need to add any auxiliary materials, can be directly put into the tank, the equipment can adapt to the high humidity, high cold different regions, the use of vertical closed tank structure, reducing the installation footprint. Compared with traditional composting, the use of fermentation tanks can better improve the efficiency, save manpower, reduce the emission of waste gas, and achieve harmless treatment of waste.

2、Biogas from chicken manure

Chicken manure from chicken farms can be treated as raw material for biogas. Chicken manure has fine particles, rich in low molecular compounds and high content of nitrogen. When it is put into a biogas digester and sealed for a period of time, the nitrogen in chicken manure will be synthesised into a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide and other gases, which can be used as fuel for daily life or for power generation. The biogas residue and biogas liquid can also be used as fertilizer to achieve the recycling of resources.

3、Feeding chicken manure

Chicken manure is rich in protein and other nutrients, which can be properly treated and fed to pigs, cows, sheep and other livestock as feed. Chicken manure feed methods include silage, ammonia and so on. Silage is made by mixing fresh chicken manure with chopped forage, which is then fermented and fed to livestock; ammoniation is made by mixing chicken manure with ammonia, which is then processed for a certain period of time and used as feed. Making chicken manure into feed also realizes the recycling of resources.

4、Cautions

①When chicken manure is used as a biogas raw material, attention should be paid to ventilation and air permeability, otherwise the concentration of methane and other gases will be too large, and the explosion phenomenon will easily occur.

②And before using chicken manure as compost, pay attention to the temperature of the fertilizer. The temperature of compost in fermentation is high, so when using compost, wait for the fertilizer to return to room temperature so as not to scald the plants.

③During the treatment of chicken manure, it is necessary to follow the principle of environmental protection to reduce the impact on the environment.

In conclusion, the treatment and utilization of chicken manure is a systematic project that requires the joint participation of the government, enterprises and farmers. Through scientific and reasonable treatment methods, chicken manure can be converted into resources, which can not only protect the ecological environment, but also improve economic benefits and achieve sustainable development.
